"Dinner with a View at Casamara – Portovenere We made a reservation at Casamara for dinner, drawn in by its seaside charm and promising menu. When we arrived, we lingered awkwardly at the front entrance—unsure if we were meant to wait or seat ourselves—until someone finally waved us inside to check in. Not a huge deal, but a bit of a clumsy start. Once seated, our server quickly brought over water but disappeared for a while before taking our drink order. Thankfully, the White Bullet cocktail made up for it. A refreshing surprise—distinctly European in flavor and nothing like your typical American bar mix, but all the better for it. We started with red shrimp and white fish sashimi—beautifully plated, but ultimately underwhelming and overpriced. At that point, we debated skipping mains… but thank god we didn’t. The sea bass arrived like a culinary redemption arc—perfectly cooked and accompanied by a vibrant mix of vegetables, olives, and capers. Every bite was coastal perfection—flaky, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The scenery? Breathtaking. Dining along the water in Portovenere feels like something out of a dream—until a rogue seagull tries to share your meal. Pro tip: feed the birds, or your spouse may spend the evening scolding you instead of soaking in the view. Final take: Appetizers? Meh. Main course? Worth every euro. Come for the views, stay for the sea bass—and bring breadcrumbs."

Set right on the water in Portovenere, under the Church of San Pietro, the ambiance is breathtaking, especially at sunset. The seafood felt like it came straight from the waves: we enjoyed the octopus, grilled sea bass, muscles, oysters, tuna tartare and a perfectly balanced pasta. The waiter guided us to a Tuscan Vermentino by Gaja wine that matched each dish beautifully and all the cocktails were prepared to taste. Service was professional yet warm and unhurried. The vibe—from the décor to the background music, to the sound of waves—were all elegant and relaxed. All in all, a top-tier Ligurian seafood experience."

"This place was suggested to us by our bout tour guy. We were late by almost 30 ( because of a tricky situation with parking ), but we still got our table. It was late in the evening so we could enjoy the view, but the food and wine selection was great , the whole staff was super friendly . Definitely recommend this place , try to get there before the sun set - to enjoy the view ."

For our wedding anniversary, we returned to the Casamare restaurant in Portovenere for the second time, and the experience was even more unforgettable than the first. The atmosphere was magical: they seated us at a table practically touching the sea, a perfect setting for such a special occasion. The service was impeccable, attentive, and courteous, helping us feel pampered and at ease throughout the meal. But the real star was the cuisine, a true symphony of flavors. We started with an appetizer of **octopus on a bed of mashed potatoes** with a lemon glaze, a dish that stimulated the palate with its delicacy and freshness. On the other side of the table, the **beef tartare** was simply perfect. We trusted the chef's advice, and he proved to be a true master. He offered us two versions of the **candele**, one with a flavorful "cod ragù" and the other "alla lardiata," both extraordinary and full of character. For main courses, we opted for a light and crispy "Fritto misto" and a "beef fillet" with rosemary sauce and potatoes, cooked to perfection. Each dish confirmed the chef's exceptional quality and mastery, and we sincerely thank him for providing us with a complete sensory experience. Casamare is more than just a restaurant, it's a place where flavors, aromas, and sensations blend to create unforgettable memories."
